Newspapers are primarily designed to inform people about a wide range of topics; however, due to their inherent structural qualities, they extend far beyond this original function. They are commonly used for practical purposes such as cleaning windows, protecting surfaces, carrying objects, or covering materials. At the same time, newspapers contain layered forms of knowledge and intent, including different genres of news, job advertisements, and entertainment sections such as puzzles and crosswords. In addition to their informational content, newspapers possess a distinct physical structure and texture. This structure generates visual imagery, and the material itself produces characteristic sounds through folding, tearing, and movement.

As a result of research into the various uses of newspapers, paperwork emerged through the integration of these functional aspects with movement and body dynamics.
