Dancer, Choreographer, Instructor
Born in Ankara in 1997, Halil İbrahim Aygün started his dance career in 2014 with street dance. While developing himself in various styles such as Hiphop, Waacking, Dancehall, and Afro, he graduated from the Modern Dance Department at Ankara University State Conservatory in 2022. He took on active roles in university collectives and, in 2021, chaired the ADA Arts Community, organizing movement-based workshops, talks, and festivals. Throughout his academic journey and beyond, he had the opportunity to work with many choreographers such as Ozgür Adam Inanc, Deniz Alp, Ekin Bernay, Beyhan Murphy, Xin Ying (Martha Graham Dance Company), and Lara Guidetti (Sanpapié Dance Company).
In 2023, Aygün participated as a dancer and assistant in several notable projects, including the ’25th Afife Theater Awards opening show’, ‘Hope Alkazar-RESET’, ‘Nike – Grace The Stage’, and‘Medusa’s Scream’ with movement direction by Ekin Bernay. In 2024, he performed in ‘Sea Tails’ at Arter as part of Jackie Matisse’s ‘Kite Time’ exhibition, with movement direction by Polly Motley, in ‘Collective Bond’ exhibition at Bebek Cistern also in ‘heartquake’, choreographed by Ekin Tunçeli, at MDT Stockholm. Throughout the season, he performed with the live show series ‘Defansif Dizayn’ by the band Büyük Ev Ablukada. Additionally, he gained experience in various commercials, TV series, and short films, and danced in theatre productions such as ‘Böyledir Bizim Sevdamız’ and ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and ‘Afife’.
Aygün has presented his own works, including“not quite my tempo, sightless, paperwork, the bender, untitled” at platforms such as Fringe Istanbul, Solo Contemporary Dance Festival, Online Performance Art Festival, and the SIS Artist Residency. He also took on roles as an assistant, organizer, stage manager, and project manager at various festivals.
Currently, he continues to share his practice through workshops and performances.
